Supreme Quality Single-door Cupboard

A supreme quality single door general purpose side cupboard/pedestal cabinet in mahogany. The overhanging top, with its rounded front corners and three-quarter gallery upstand, surmounts a slightly tapering carcass enclosed by a recessed panelled door. Internally there is a storage compartment with a fitted fixed-height shelf. It retains its original turned knob handle and there is a simple plinth base support. This beautiful little cabinet would double as a useful bedside cupboard. It is unusual for having hinges on the left hand side making it much easier to pair with another cupboard that has a more standard right-hand-hung door. It is English, c.1850 – c.1875. High quality timbers and an original finish with an exceptional colour and patination.
