This is a superb quality pair of antique Victorian solid mahogany bedside chests, circa 1860.
The tops features practical “splash backs” to help items falling off the tops of the bedsides behind them. Each bedside chest boasts traditional round cornered moulded edges to the top and the bedsides sit on matching rounded plinths. Both chests are constructed of top quality solid mahogany timber finished with a superb solid mahogany finish. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides; they are heavy to lift! During this period, England was imported top quality timber from its colonies.
Condition Report:
These adapted bedside chests are in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The drawers feature the original turned mahogany knobs. The drawers are mahogany drawer lined and hand dovetailed, which is a sign of superb quality. The mahogany gives a superb colour and patination. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides; they are heavy to lift! Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
