This is a great quality pair of antique serpentine shaped French Louis revival chestnut This is a great quality pair of antique heart shaped serpentine French Louis XV1 revival chestnut bedside cabinets, circa 1920, circa 1920, designed in the style of the Louis XV1 period. They each have serpentine gallery tops. Below there is a useful open cupboard area. Surrounding this is a pretty shaped floral carved frieze. The side of the cabinets feature lovely figured flat panels with heart shaped openings; these double up as carrying handles. The fronts of the cabinets boast a lovely serpentine design to the front and sides of the chests and the whole sits on elegant cabriole legs with a shaped frame. These bedsides are in excellent original condition, which is what gives them their lovely patination and colour; this has been generated by the years of cleaning and care they have received. These bedsides chests boast the classic French chateau styling that you see in furniture of this period.
Condition Report:
These bedside cabinets are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Importantly, the bedsides tops are free of watermarks and ink stains. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The brass knobs are original. The cabinets stand firm on the ground and do not wobble. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
