Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
They produced the first chocolate Easter egg in the UK in 1873. The company merged with Cadbury in 1919, jointly becoming the British Cocoa and Chocolate Company.
"J.S. Fry & Sons Ltd" is carved into the front lower wood base, while the front glass is beautifully etched with "Fry's Choice Chocolate," as well as the Royal appointment crest.
An extremely lovely original cabinet with 3 glazed sides, and mirrored back.
When these are found, they are usually found with either replacement or missing parts. Often the front etched glass or the sliding mirrored back doors have not survived. This cabinet is all original and intact.
27 inches wide by 26.5 inches high by 15 inches deep.
It would be a great cabinet to house a collection of small antiques, glass or the like, or to use as a shop display.
