Rare & Vibrant English Regency Chinoiserie Jewellery Cabinet C.1820

19th century
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A magnificent and rare find, this Regency Jewelry cabinet is a vibrant colour and unusual design.

Standing on four bun feet, the cabinet has a label on the underside from when it was last gifted in 1940, this isn't when the cabinet was made, it was then a true antique and over 100 years old, this is a Regency era box dating to around 1820.

The label reads: "To Thomas Nicholls Beavan From His Sister Mary Carrick Beavan / April 1940".

The box looks equally striking all around with a red and white chequered design on the sides and back; the top of the box and around the sides of the lid has a complimentary harlequin design.

The two doors has two Chinoiserie panels and once opened the interior is an absolute joy, the inside of the doors is decorated with Chinoiserie panels and the front of the drawers decorated with an array of Butterflies, Moths and other Bugs.

The top section has been professionally relined in Navy Blue velvet, fitted for Jewelry including a ring bank to accommodate around five to six rings. The drawers all retain the original pale blue regency paper to the sides and the bottoms re-lined with blue velvet.

Exquisite in every way and a petite size, measuring 7 1/2" x 5" and standing 9 1/4" tall.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
