Here we have an exceptional Victorian burr Walnut ebonised and inlaid pier cabinet of fine quality c1870. As you can see this cabinet has fantastic colour and patina. This type of pier cabinet is undoubtedly the finest of examples. There is an ebonised top with crossbanded edge in burr Walnut. There is ormolu mounted beading beneath The cantered corners are again ormolu monted with reeded and gilded columns. The columns have gilded ormolu mounts of exceptional quality both in casting and architecture. There are original side glass panels as well as the front to give more light for display. The frieze at the top and all sides of the cantered corners have delicious inlay with stringing to the door front and surrounds of the side panels. The ormolu beading extends in a differing guage to the edges of the door and side glass panels. The interior has ebonised and string inlaid shelves with beautiful plush blue velvet linings. A truly wonderful cabinet where the cabinet maker has left no stone unturned. The dimensions are approx 34 inches wide 16.5 deep and 43 high.
