This Arts and Crafts glazed earthenware vase dates to 1890 and originates from the Victorian period. The ceramic piece is finished in an olive green and chartreuse colour scheme, featuring a fine crackle finish, a vertical dark green drip glaze over a bright chartreuse background, an elongated slender neck, and a bulbous lower body. The smooth, rounded vase stands 20.5 cm tall with a stable base. In a contemporary home, this decorative vessel sits suitably on a sideboard top to display single stems or stand alone as a mantelpiece accent. Its distinctive Gothic styling and bold palette complement traditional and eclectic interiors alike.

Burmantofts pottery refers to art ceramics and architectural faience manufactured by the Leeds Fireclay Company in Yorkshire between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for expressive glaze techniques.

These vessels were crafted using local earthenware or fireclay bodies and coated in translucent lead-based glazes, frequently applying drip, monochrome, or relief decoration.

Authentic pieces generally display impressed marks on the underside, such as the monogram BF, the words BURMANTOFTS FAIENCE, or impressed shape and pattern numbers.

Position the vase as a single decorative accent on a console table, sideboard, or shelving unit, allowing its form and glaze tone to contrast against neutral surfaces.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and avoid full submersion in water or abrasive detergents, as water can penetrate fine glaze crazing over time.
