Description

A very rare 18th century green wine glass dating to c1780-90.

It has a large round funnel bowl above a closed hollow stem and a conical foot decorated with multiple fine applied concentric trails. Snapped pontil.

An exceptionally rare glass. This distinctive English form was produced in the late 18th century, often for the export market, and is normally found with applied collars and raspberry prunts decorating the stem.

This example is particularly unusual in having a completely plain hollow stem, without either collars or applied prunts. It is the first example we have encountered in this form.

England, c1780, Period of King George III

Excellent. No chips, cracks, or restoration.
