Description

An excellent mid-19th-century engraved and cut wine glass dating to c1850.

It has a well-proportioned conical bowl engraved around the rim with a continuous band of flowers, leaves and ferns, above a lower section of fine flute cutting. The bowl is supported by a small facet-cut ball knop stem, raised on a conical foot with a polished pontil.

A finely balanced example combining delicate wheel engraving with crisp cutting, typical of the elegant decorative table glass produced during the early Victorian period.

Date & Origin

England, c1850. Period of Queen Victoria.

Excellent, no chips, cracks or restoration.
