Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Art Deco cocktail cabinet is a specialized piece of furniture introduced during the 1920s and 1930s to store spirits, glassware, and bar accessories. These pieces typically showcase geometric forms, bold veneers, and drop-down or folding compartments designed for mixing drinks.

Cabinetmakers during the 1930s frequently utilized decorative timber veneers such as figured walnut, burr walnut, and mahogany over solid wood frames. Interior compartments often incorporated mirror linings, glass shelves, and brass hardware or hinges.

Authentic pieces generally display period-correct construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass locks or handles, and natural surface wear consistent with age. Look for characteristic design elements including clean geometric silhouettes, curved outer edges, and book-matched wood veneers.

Position the cabinet against a neutral or dark accent wall to accentuate the warmth of the walnut grain. Style the surface with minimalist brass accents or table lamps while keeping the internal compartments organized with period crystal glassware and decanters.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the veneer. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying, warping, or discolouration.
