Antique 18th Century Oak Livery Cupboard Wardrobe

Description

A handsome 18th century oak livery cupboard of excellent colour and proportions. The moulded cornice sits above a pair of panelled doors, each with a shaped fielded panel, opening to reveal a generous full-width hanging space extending into the base. The lower section has three fielded panels above two drawers fitted with brass swan neck handles and decorative backplates. Panelled sides and a rich, well-developed colour and patina throughout give the piece considerable character.

CONDITION REPORT:

Good antique condition with wear, marks, knocks and surface variations commensurate with age and use. Historic repairs to the cornice at both sides and some age-related splits to the panels. One rear foot is a replacement. Evidence of historic woodworm, long inactive, with the piece treated as a precaution. The cupboard retains a particularly good colour and patina and is solid and sturdy overall.
