Marlborough Antiques & Interiors has dated these French Walnut Bedside Cabinets to the 1890s.
A particularly attractive pair of late 19th-century French walnut bedside cabinets, dating to circa 1890 and displaying the elegant proportions and decorative detailing associated with French furniture of the period.
The warm walnut has developed a pleasing, rich colour and attractive patina.

The cabinets are raised on wonderfully elegant cabriole legs, with carved foliate detail to the knees and feet, while a carved floral motif embellishes the shaped apron beneath the cupboard. The restrained carving and gently shaped fronts give the pair a distinctly Louis XV-inspired character without appearing overly formal.

At 84 cm high, they are a particularly useful height for bedside use and would work equally well as small lamp or occasional tables. Their relatively narrow proportions also make them suitable for rooms where space beside the bed is limited.
A handsome and very decorative true pair, combining useful storage with the warmth of walnut and the freshness of their contrasting marble tops.
