A four glass mantel clock is a style of horological piece originating in 19th-century France, featuring four clear bevelled glass panels set within a metallic frame to allow visibility of the movement and pendulum from all angles.

These clocks traditionally feature cast or gilt brass framework, thick bevelled glass panes, porcelain or enamel dials, and temperature-compensated pendulums constructed with glass jars containing mercury.

Authentic examples usually feature heavy bevelled glass panels, maker stamps or serial numbers on the brass movement backplate, cast detailing on the case, and a dual-jar mercury compensated pendulum system.

Place the clock as a focal decorative object on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or desk, allowing light to pass through the glass casing against a neutral or contrasting wall backdrop.

Clean the glass panels using a soft microfibre cloth lightly dampened with glass cleaner, avoiding liquid contact with the brass frame, and ensure the mechanical movement is professionally lubricated every five to seven years.
