Antique Oval French Four Glass Brass Striking Bracket Mantel Clock By Ad Mougin

DESCRIPTION: This is a wonderful and rare oval shaped four glass bracket / mantel clock which has four bevelled and curved glasses which allows the pendulum and movement to be viewed. It AD Mougin was a famous clock maker in Paris from the mid 19th century forward. The clock is by A.D. Mougin was one of the better clock makers of the time and obtained two gold medals from the Paris exhibitions. .
 
The brass dial is set out with Roman numerals in blue on cartouches and surrounded in lovely embossed work which is a lovely feature . It is finished with a super pair of shaped fingers. The case is nicely oval shaped brass which is a rare feature with lovely thick bevelled and curved glass to all four sides.
 
The front door opens to access the dial. The clock is then raised on a shaped plinth base.
 
The rear door also opens to access the movement. The movement is lovely and clean and is in good working order having been recently cleaned and serviced. The movement chimes on the hours and also chimes once at half past. In addition this clock comes complete with it''s winding key and faux mercury pendulum. The pendulum is wonderful being nicely detailed. The movement is also stamped with ''AD MOUGIN Deux Medailles'' and ''G.R'' and the serial number ''4256'' on the movement back plate.
 
AGE: The clock dates to circa 1895.
 
DIMENSIONS: The approximate maximum dimensions are: 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) wide x 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) deep x 11 3/4 inches (30 cm) high
 
CONDITION: The condition of the brass case is overall very good as seen in photographs. The glass is excellent just one small chip which is hardly noticeable to top of right side, see close up photograph.
