This early 20th century Queen Anne style cabinet chest displays a warm brown colour scheme, fashioned from burr walnut veneer, walnut and brass. The upper section contains twin cupboard doors above two long drawers, fitted with small brass swing handles, teardrop keyhole escutcheons, and visible grain patterns across the timber surfaces. The base incorporates a shaped apron, standing on carved cabriole legs with pad feet. It measures 132 cm high, 93 cm wide and 50 cm deep. Suitable for use in a living room, hallway or bedroom, the furniture provides versatile storage space for books, linens or tableware. The cabinet surface holds lamps, framed photographs or decorative objects, while the enclosed cupboards and lower drawers keep household items organized and out of sight.

A burr walnut cabinet chest on stand is a traditional case piece featuring an upper storage cupboard or chest raised on a frame with legs, popularised during the William and Mary and Queen Anne periods and reproduced throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

These pieces typically feature solid walnut or oak carcasses covered with decorative burr walnut veneers, often accompanied by brass keyhole escutcheons, teardrop or swan-neck handles, and softwood drawer linings.

Look for construction signs such as hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, authentic wear on the timber underside, period-appropriate brass hardware, and natural oxidation or patina on the burr walnut veneer.

Combine the warm wood tones of the walnut cabinet with neutral wall shades, modern ceramics, or textured natural fabrics to create a balanced mix of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary minimalism.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding harsh chemical sprays and direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources.
