Charming 1920s Pair of Royal Doulton Art Nouveau Vases

1900 - 1920
Description

These charming little 13.5cm Royal Doulton stoneware vases look as if they are straight from the kiln, with not so much as a scratch on them. Although signed by different artists, they are a very well-matched pair. The high-gloss glaze would indicate that they were made in the 1920s/1930s.

The vases have the impressed Royal Doulton mark with a crown and lion and the series number 6229. Both signed to their bases, both offered in very good condition.

The vase are in mint condition, without chips, cracks, crazing, restoration, scratches, or even firing cracks.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Royal Doulton pottery from this era features high-fired stoneware, stylized organic or floral motifs, and rich mottled glazes influenced by the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements.

These pieces were crafted from dense stoneware clay and finished with heavy lead or salt glazes, often decorated using slip-beading, tubelining, or hand-incised patterning.

Authentic items feature impressed factory backstamps on the underside, often accompanied by artist initials, pattern numbers, and specific shape codes.

Displaying decorative ceramic vases as a symmetrical pair on a sideboard or mantelpiece introduces depth and craftsmanship to contemporary living spaces.

Stoneware should be cleaned gently using warm water and a mild detergent applied with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive pads or submersion in water.
