Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French clock garniture set traditionally comprises a central mantel clock flanked by two matching decorative sidepieces, such as candelabras, urns, or vases. Popularised in 19th-century France, these sets were designed to create symmetrical displays on fireplace mantels and sideboard tops.

These pieces usually feature cast patinated bronze or gilt bronze (ormolu) elements paired with carved marble or onyx bases. The internal clock mechanisms are constructed from precision brass gears and steel springs.

Authentic pieces often feature maker marks or serial numbers stamped into the brass movement backplate. Look for hand-finished bronze casting details, foundry stamps, and original assembly marks on the marble and metallic elements.

Place the central clock on a fireplace mantelpiece or large console table with the matching candelabras arranged symmetrically on either side. The dark bronze and light marble tones contrast effectively against both neutral and dark-painted backdrops.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth or dry soft brush. Avoid liquid cleaners, polishes, or chemical solutions on patinated bronze and unsealed marble, as these can strip historical patination and cause discoloration.
