This French Rococo Revival decorative bowl dates to 1900 and combines clear glass and ormolu. The piece comprises a removable glass dish with a scalloped rim, wrythen optic glass, and gilded floral swags and roses, supported by an ormolu stand featuring scroll handles and a spherical knop. A matching domed glass base repeats the wrythen pattern and gilded foliage motifs. The entire object measures 12 cm high by 16 cm wide and 16 cm deep, with light wear to the gilding. Suitable for placement on a sideboard top, the bowl serves as a versatile display piece or practical container in a home. It accommodates sweet or savoury snacks, potpourri, or a large candle, adding a decorative French chateau accent to dining tables, living rooms, or entrance halls.

A French ormolu mounted dish is a decorative vessel combining glass with a gilt-bronze or gilt-brass framework, produced extensively during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

These objects combine blown or molded glass with cast gilt-bronze mounts, held together using central threaded rods and metal collars.

Authentic pieces feature detailed hand-chasing on the metalwork, heavy cast bronze components, and warm-toned gilding displaying light surface oxidisation.

An antique glass tazza works as a central accent on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or console table to catch natural light and add texture.

Clean glass surfaces with a soft microfibre cloth dampened with water, while dusting the metalwork with a dry brush, avoiding liquid chemicals that remove gilding.
