Irish Oak Longcase Clock Portglenone Wm. Young

£985    $1,329    €1,150
This is a handsome Irish oak cased 8 day longcase clock in excellent order by William Young of Portglenone dating from around 1830.

The clock has just been serviced and runs beautifully for 8 days striking on a bell on the hour every hour. This has an interesting face with a good maritime scene of masted tall ships and a really striking and unusual pair of Asiatic pheasants to the 13-inch painted arch dial. It has Roman numerals and a seconds dial and date aperture with floral decorated corners. The four pillar movement has an anchor escapement with weights pendulum and key.

The case measures 218cm high by wide by deep.

This good clock is referenced in Brian Loomes “Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World” volume 2 Second Edition
