This WW2 period RAF dial wall clock dates to 1940 in a mid-20th century military style. The piece comprises a warm brown mahogany circular case with a moulded wooden surround, enclosing a cast brass bezel, a glass cover, and an off-white dial bearing black Roman numerals, the RAF insignia, and spade hands. Observable details include the grain of the timber, the circular brass frame, and the painted lettering and emblem on the clock face. The unit measures 46 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 18 cm deep. In a modern interior, this clock suits placement on a narrow wall space in a gentleman's library, study, or hallway as a practical timepiece and historical focal point. The solid timber construction and classic military design integrate easily with traditional or transitional decor schemes while offering functional timekeeping.

RAF dial clocks were standardized timepieces commissioned by the Air Ministry for use in Royal Air Force airfields, sector stations, and command posts during the twentieth century, particularly throughout World War II.

These timepieces were typically crafted with solid mahogany or oak outer surrounds, heavy cast brass glass bezels, and painted sheet iron or zinc dials fitted with mechanical brass clockworks.

Authentic military timepieces feature clear insignia on the dial, such as the RAF crest with a Kings Crown or George VI cypher, stamped Air Ministry markings on the back, and robust mechanical movements.

A large round dial clock serves as a focal point when mounted above a sideboard, in a hallway, or within a home office paired with neutral wall colours and dark wood furnishings.

The movement should be regularly serviced by a qualified horologist, wound consistently with the correct key, and kept away from damp conditions or direct heat sources to preserve the timber case.
