Beautiful chinoiserie decorated exterior front and sides featuring a scene of multiple figures amongst traditional pagodas and bridges built across and landscape of islands in raised lacquerwork and gold paint against a black 'japanned' ground. With large original decorative pierced and tooled brass hinges and and escutcheon plates. The decoration continues on the inner face of the doors with scenes of birds amongst blossoming tree branches, plus another oriental scene to the drawer front. Raised on a separate giltwood stand carved with a grotesque head to the centre of the apron, flanked with scrolling acanthus and with bats to the corners above the legs. Shaped legs with further carved detail, joined with a crossed stretcher. Some crackling to the black ground on the door fronts and minor tarnish to the mirror glass inside. Otherwise very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
