Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1910 miniature chest of drawers functions practically as a jewellery box or decorative accessory for a sideboard top in a home. The solid brass object displays a bright brass colour with slight tarnishing in areas, constructed as an apprentice chest of drawers measuring 19 cm high, 17 cm wide, and 8 cm deep. The piece comprises two small upper drawers positioned above three graduated full-width drawers below, mounted on a shaped apron base. Every drawer front is enriched with engraved stylized thistle patterns bordered by delicate punchwork decoration. Each drawer is fitted with pointed conical brass knobs for hardware. The Victorian style miniature furniture reflects a Highland hunting lodge design aesthetic, offering compact storage suitable for small trinkets and valuables.

FAQs

An apprentice chest is a reduced-scale piece of furniture crafted by a trainee artisan to demonstrate technical proficiency in wood or metalworking at the end of an apprenticeship.

These items were typically constructed using sheet brass, joined with solder or rivets, and decorated with chased, stamped, or hand-engraved surface patterns alongside cast metal knobs.

Authentic pieces display period construction features such as hand-cut joinery, irregular punchwork decoration, natural surface oxidisation, and operational miniature drawers.

Miniature brass chests function as decorative objects on a sideboard, desk, or dressing table, providing functional small-scale storage for jewellery and small desktop items.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and avoid abrasive metal cleaners that strip historical patina or clog fine engraved detailing with chemical residue.
