Georgian Welsh Inlaid Oak Chest On Stand

£2,250    $3,048    €2,651
This unusual Welsh chest on stand is made entirely of dense, native oak, including the very substantial drawer linings.

The uncommon proportions, (low and wide) and broad, contrasting line inlay along with a set of original pierced backplates give the piece a striking appearance. The cockbeading, applied to the frame on the upper part, and the drawer edges to the stand, is made of bog oak. The four drawer stand has an elegantly shaped frieze with squared section, cabriole legs.

Welsh, from the Vale of Glamorgan, circa 1760-80.
