This Georgian cut glass bowl displays a classic oval form with a clear lead crystal body. The vessel exhibits intricate decorative elements including a step-cut rim, deep diamond facet cutting around the body, vertical fluting towards the lower walls, and a star-cut pattern on the underside of the base. Measuring 10 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 18.5 cm deep, the bowl sits at a compact and practical scale for everyday interior display. In a modern home, this decorative piece serves well upon a dining room sideboard top or a living room console table to hold small decorative items or floral arrangements. The clear glass reflects surrounding light through its multifaceted surface textures, adding traditional elegance to a room scheme. The piece remains in very good condition with clean transparent glass surfaces suited to contemporary traditional interiors.

Georgian cut glass, produced between 1714 and 1830, is defined by heavy lead crystal construction and deeply cut geometric patterns. Craftsmanship from this era shifted from simple wheel-engraved motifs to complex diamond, mitre, and step cuts designed to maximize light refraction.

These bowls were crafted from high-lead content flint glass, which provided superior clarity, weight, and acoustic resonance compared to standard soda glass. The high lead content allowed lapidaries to cut intricate facets deep into the surface of the vessel.

Authentic Georgian lead glass often exhibits a subtle grey or blue-purple tint under specific lighting, feels heavy for its size, and shows hand-finished cut facets with slight variations. The base typically features a hand-ground pontil mark or a polished star-cut base.

Position cut glass vessels on surface locations near light sources, such as a sideboard top, dining table, or window sill, allowing natural light to highlight the facet cuts. They serve effectively as standalone accents or functional serving pieces for formal dining settings.

Hand wash antique glass using lukewarm water and a gentle liquid soap, avoiding modern dishwashers and harsh chemicals. Dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots and thermal shock caused by sudden temperature changes.
