Pair Of Regency Spode Imari Japan Pattern 967 Bone China Urn Vases C.1810

A fine pair of early 19th-century Spode bone vases decorated in the factory’s well-known Japan (Imari) Pattern 967.
 
Each vase is hand-painted with a fenced Oriental garden design in cobalt blue, iron red and green enamels with extensive gilding. The elegant shape rises from a circular foot to a gently flaring rim. Both rim and foot are encircled by Spode’s distinctive raised pearled border, a laborious technique in which individual white enamel beads are applied by hand to create a jewel-like finish.
 
The vases are potted in Spode’s early bone china and date to the Regency period, circa 1810–1815.
