The World is Made of Glass Ltd. has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The glass is in excellent condition. It shows age related wear and tear consistent with some 200 years of use.
The glass measures 13 cm (5.2 inches) in diameter across the bowl rim and is 17.7 cm (7 inches) in height. Its size would suggest that it was either a ceremonial or mixing rummer. The bowl is double ogee in shape and is plain. The bowl sits on a short capstan stem with a medial annular knop. The stem ends in a shallow, conical foot that measures 10.5 cm (4.2 inches) in diameter and which carries a rough pontil mark to the underside. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
There is some light scratching to the internal surface which might suggest that it was, indeed, used as a mixing rummer.
Lead glass, weighing in at 880 g. (~ 2 lb.).
