Rare Large Pair of Frank Butler Royal Doulton Vases, c.1905

An exceptional and rare large pair of Royal Doulton vases designed by Frank Butler, dating to circa 1905. These vases are of an unusual and highly distinctive design and were not produced for mass production. According to verification received from Royal Doulton’s Historical Officer in 1992, when previously owned, it was believed that only a few thousand pairs were made. Within the broader context of Royal Doulton production, this represents a relatively small production run and would be considered a limited edition by modern standards. A copy of the supporting letter is included for reference.

Each vase stands an impressive 31.5 cm in height and is very well marked to the base. Both bear Frank Butler’s iconic monogram, along with the initials BN, denoting Bessie Newbury, who assisted Butler during this period.
