Doulton Burslem, Staffordshire, c.1891. An original pair of rare beaker-form porcelain vases on three-dolphin architectural bases. Ivory ground with hand-painted floral bouquets; gilt inner rims and gilt decoration to the stepped triangular bases. Both bear the crowned Doulton Burslem mark (circular monogram), a dating indicator for the pre-Royal Burslem period. The small differences in height and weight are a hallmark of hand production�each vase was individually formed and painted.
