This is a Sunderland blue, Georgian, wrythen-moulded sugar bowl dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.
The bowl is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the under side of the foot.
The bowl measures 11.5 cm (4.6 inches) in diameter at the turned inward rim. The bowl is wrythen-moulded and sits on a small extruded foot which measures 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter. The bowl is 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in height. There are a few small inclusions in the metal of the bowl dating from manufacture. There are no chips, cracks, other significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It weighs 75 g. (~ 3 oz.).
