Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco wall clocks from the 1930s and 1940s are characterised by geometric silhouettes, clean typography, bold numeral faces, and architectural woodwork. French designs frequently paired native woods like oak with stylised carved motifs and decorative leaded or etched glass panels showing the pendulum.

These clocks typically feature solid or veneered oak cases housing mechanical key-wound movements with brass gearing. Dials were often constructed from silvered or chromed metal, set behind glass, while pendulum windows frequently incorporated etched or bevelled glass panels.

Authentic examples exhibit mechanical winding keyholes on the dial face, maker marks on the clock movement or dial centre, and hand-carved or moulded geometric details. Look for period-appropriate typography on the clock face and authentic pendulum mechanisms visible through the glass.

Position the clock as a focal point on a neutral or dark-painted accent wall in a hallway, dining space, or home office. The warm oak tones and geometric symmetry allow it to complement both contemporary and mid-century aesthetic schemes.

Ensure the clock case is mounted completely level on a secure wall hook to keep the pendulum swinging evenly. Clean the wooden casing with a soft cloth and beeswax polish, avoiding liquid cleaners on the dial face or glass inserts.
