Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian glass ewers were popular decorative liquid vessels produced during the 19th century, frequently used for serving wine or water at the dining table. They reflected advancements in glassworking technique, incorporating intricate surface decoration such as acid etching and wheel engraving.

These ewers were typically crafted from hand-blown lead crystal or flint glass. Craftsmen applied surface decoration using acid etching, mechanical wheel-cutting, and hand-applied handles, finishing the piece with fitted ground glass stoppers.

Authentic pieces usually display minor glass irregularities, a polished pontil mark on the base, and micro-wear consistent with age on the underside of the foot. The stopper should fit snugly into a hand-ground neck collar.

Position the ewer on a dining sideboard, bar cart, or tray alongside contemporary tableware to create contrast. Sunlight passing through clear or etched glass highlights the surface patterns and adds visual clarity to a room.

Wash the glass by hand using lukewarm water and a mild non-abrasive detergent, avoiding dishwashers which cause clouding. Ensure the interior is thoroughly dried with a soft microfibre cloth or dry air before reinserting the stopper.
