A rummer is a large, heavy-stemmed drinking glass that gained immense popularity in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, primarily used for serving rum, beer, wine, or punch.

Traditional rummers were typically crafted from heavy lead glass, often fashioned using blowing techniques followed by hand-cutting, moulding, or engraving on the bowl and foot.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the base, minor irregularities or bubbles within the glass matrix, heavy lead content weight, and hand-cut facets specific to period manufacturing methods.

These pieces can be displayed on open shelving, utilized as atmospheric candleholders, or featured on a bar cart to introduce historic texture and reflective clarity to modern dining spaces.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh scrubbing to protect the delicate surface and historic patina.
