Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A ting-tang bracket clock is a traditional mechanical timepiece featuring a striking mechanism that sounds two distinct gongs or bells to mark the quarter hours before chiming the full hour. Originating in the eighteenth century, these clocks were historically designed to sit on a wall bracket or mantelpiece.

These clocks traditionally feature solid timber cases, predominantly mahogany, walnut, or oak, accented with cast brass mounts, carrying handles, and feet. The dials are often constructed with brass surrounds and silvered or enamel faces displaying Roman numerals.

Authentic Winterhalder & Hofmeier movements are frequently stamped with the makers initials or trade mark, such as W&H SCH, on the back plate. The mechanical movements are recognised for high-grade brass plates, heavy steel arbours, and precise gear cutting standard in late nineteenth-century Black Forest manufacturing.

Position the clock as a focal point on a fireplace mantel, sideboard top, or within a bookshelf to introduce historic character. Modern interiors benefit from contrasting the deep mahogany timber and brass details against contemporary neutral walls or marble surfaces.

Position the clock on a level surface away from direct heat sources and drafty areas to protect the timber case from warping or drying out. The mechanical movement requires periodic professional servicing by a horologist every five to seven years alongside dusting of the exterior with a soft cloth.
