A rummer is a large, heavy-stemmed drinking glass popular in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, typically used for serving ale, wine, or punch.

Traditional rummers were hand-blown from lead crystal or flint glass, often featuring hand-cut flutes, panels, or engraved motifs along the bowl and a thickened foot for stability.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the base, minor irregularities in the glass, a high lead content weight, and hand-cut facets rather than uniform machine-moulded edges.

These versatile vessels can be displayed on open shelving, used as distinctive candle holders, or incorporated into a dining table arrangement for a touch of historic elegance.

Antique glassware should be washed by hand in warm water using mild soap, avoiding harsh detergents and sudden temperature changes to protect the fragile historic material.
