Georgian Engraved Facet Cut Stem Wine Glass, Medial Knop

This is a Georgian, facet cut stem wine glass of possible Jacobite significance and dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1770.
 
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
 
 
The glass has an ogee-shaped bowl measuring 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a Hoho bird and an open rose bud. James Stuart, The Old Pretender, died in 1766 so at the time of blowing this glass only Bonny Prince Charlie and his brother Henry were alive, which would explain the absence of the normal six petal open rose engraving as this represented James; all assuming it is a Jacobite glass of course. The bowl sits on a diamond-cut facet cut stem with a medial angular knop. The stem ends in a conical foot which measures 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter. The glass is 15 cm (6 inches) in height. ...
