Eighteenth-century English glassware is characterised by heavy lead or soda metal compositions, often featuring handblown forms, simple rounded bowls, and thick baluster or plain stems intended for everyday or export use.

These drinking vessels were traditionally handblown using molten glass shaped with hand tools, frequently resulting in minor air bubbles, striations, and pontil marks on the base.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit natural manufacturing irregularities, heavy wear marks on the underside of the foot known as pontil scars, and the specific optical qualities of historic glass batch formulas.

Antique stemware adds historic texture when displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on open shelving, or used as single stem flower vases to contrast modern minimalist spaces.

Antique glass should always be hand-washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and soft cloths, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive scrubbing.
