Early Antique Metalware 18thc Brass Single Candlestick with Side Ejector. English C1730-40.

Description

A very nice original example of these hard to find classic early 18thc candlesticks....unusual as most of these type of candlesticks by this date were joined to the base by being hollow and then expanded by a conical drift or punch so that it firmly gripped the base....this one is joined by the early method of peening into the base and then cleanly turned...it has a solid tubular cast stem...cast as a one piece tube and a highly domed cast base which has a slight step.... it has the original shaped handle to the side ejector which still works effectively.....good natural colour and no repairs.
