17thcentury Oak Lancashire Buffet /Cupboard

Description

A rare 17th century oak buffet cupboard from the lancashire area dating from the mid 17th c

In remarkable original condition with carved and punched decorations. Found in the northern areas of lancashire and westmorland.

It measures 135cms long ,130cms high and is 46cms deep.

These pieces are a rarity in this complete state. The colour and patination is a rich dark brown

They were only found in the finest jacobean manors of the period.

Similar pieces are illustrated in v.chinnery "traditions of oak" and other important oak furniture publications all dated between 1640-1680.

The pictures shown were taken in full sunlight and we can always provide more ( in normal light) the last pics are an accurate colour.

A rare find and offered by ourselves who have been trading in period oak and furniture in chester since 1977.
