Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 1930s.
An enchanting 2 door chinoiserie cabinet opening to reveal 6 hand painted chinoiserie graduated drawers to the left and 2 adjustable shelves to the right. The hand painted Chinese inspired decoration represents traditional oriental symbols and motifs, pagoda, trees, birds, figures etc with the cabinet showing an elegant timeworn craquelure appearance.

The reverse of the cabinet shows 2 old labels, 1 indistinguishable and the other Maples Depository which helps us to date this circa 1930-1950 and certainly consistent with the glamorous fashion of the period.

A 2 part cabinet and stand of considerable decorative appeal and a practical use, a versatile function and form for a classic or contemporary space, a country house aesthetic for a hall, drawing room, landing or bedroom, a charming piece of well constructed design and finish.
