A superb 19th century, Alarm/Strike-repeating Carriage Clock signed ‘A. Dumas 828‘ to the back plate, lower left corner.
The enamel dial has both Roman and Arabic numerals, a subsidiary alarm dial beneath, sweep second hand, and with a foliate engraved mask surround.
The 8-day movement retains its original platform lever escapement and strikes hours and half-hours on a bell. There is a separate winding movement and hand adjustment for the alarm function.
Two keys. Unusually the hands are adjusted using the smaller key, through a hole in the bell.
