~ French - Circa 1880 ~~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~A beautiful original gilt bronze antique French clock in the neoclassical style of Louis XVI by the renown maker Japy Fr�res. Architecturally designed and profusely decorated with acanthus scrolls and foliage. Above the dial is a motif of flaming torch� and quiver of arrows. The front is delicately fretted to allow a glimpse of the pendulum gently swinging within.The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with a gilt bronze center. It is complete with its original finely cut and blued steel hands and convex glass. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.
