Opaque twist wine glasses date predominantly from the mid-to-late 18th century, featuring intricate white or coloured enamel glass threads encased within a clear stem.

These vessels were hand-blown using lead glass, which provided high clarity, weight, and resonance, combined with opaque white enamel rods drawn from glass paste.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit pontil marks on the underside of the foot, subtle irregularities from hand-blowing, and heavy lead content that fluoresces under ultraviolet light.

Displaying the item within a glass-fronted cabinet or on an open shelving unit allows its delicate silhouette and internal optical patterns to catch ambient light.

Antique glassware requires hand washing in lukewarm water using mild detergent; never submerge in hot water or place in a dishwasher, and store securely away from direct vibrations.
