FAQs

A court cupboard serves as a striking anchor piece in a dining room or living space, paired with minimalist modern decor or textured neutrals to highlight its rich timber patina.

Maintain antique oak by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and occasionally treat the timber with traditional beeswax to nourish the wood without sealing it.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-cut joints, traditional tool marks, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, and characteristic Jacobean motifs such as guilloche carving and turned supports.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from solid English oak using traditional frame-and-panel techniques, pegged joints, and hand-carved ornamentation.

A court cupboard is a traditional English storage piece from the 16th and 17th centuries, originally used in the great halls of manor houses to display plate, food, and valuables.
