Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Chinese blue and white porcelain vase stands 26 cm high in the traditional Chinese style typical of the 19th century. The piece features a baluster-shaped body with a rounded middle and a flared neck, finished in a white glaze hand-painted with underglaze cobalt blue decorations. The visible motifs include detailed imperial dragons among scattered cloud scrolls, alongside stylized wave patterns bordering the base and rim. Placed upon a sideboard top within an English Country House interior, the vase serves as a decorative display object. The design presents a striking colour contrast between the bright white porcelain ground and the intense blue of the painted dragons. The cylindrical rim opens outward, while the tapered base sits on a small circular foot rim to anchor the vertical proportions.

FAQs

Blue and white porcelain featuring dragon motifs developed prominently during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, frequently symbolising imperial authority, power, and good fortune.

They are crafted from refined white kaolin clay, painted with blue cobalt oxide pigment under a clear glaze, and fired in high-temperature kilns.

Authenticity is evaluated through brushwork precision, cobalt tone depth, glaze bubble distribution, foot rim oxidation, and period-appropriate reign marks.

A blue and white vase functions effectively as a focal point on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece, contrasting well against modern minimalist or traditional backdrops.

Routine dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth is recommended, while deeper cleaning should be done using lukewarm water and gentle soap, avoiding harsh chemicals and sudden thermal shifts.
