Victorian furniture often draws inspiration from earlier historical periods, featuring robust construction, dark wood tones, and elaborate hand-carved detailing such as strapwork, corbels, and panelled doors.

Solid oak was predominantly used for its durability and prominent grain, often complemented by brass hinges, escutcheons, and traditional iron fixings.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, traditional backboards, period hardware, and natural oxidisation and wear consistent with age.

Mounting the cabinet on a plain, neutral wall allows its intricate carvings and rich wood texture to serve as a focal point, contrasting effectively with contemporary minimalist decor.

Maintain the wood by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct sunlight.
