Antique 18th Century Twin Chain Automation Fusee Bracket Clock SOMERSALL LONDON
 
This beautiful antique 18th century ebonised bracket clock, inverted caddy top finished with a pretty carrying handle and moulded edges over circular and shaped glazed side panels to a moulded base and feet.
 
The arched brass dial inscribed ''Mand Somersall, London'', with visible pendulum automation, and date aperture, the twin fusee movement, back plate also engraved with Rococo scrollwork. The clock is full working order having been professionally cleaned and serviced.
 
The dial is then brass with a silvered chapter ring. The chapter ring is set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring marking the minutes and every five minutes being marked in Arabic numerals. To the arch is the facility to change the clock from Chime to Silent. The dial then has floral spandrels. Finally the dial is finished by shaped hands.
 
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a twin chain fusee example of the upmost quality. The movement is full working order having been professionally cleaned and serviced. It is also complete with its pendulum and winding key. The back plate is engraved with Rococo scrollwork and is complete with the travel nut for the pendulum.
 
MAKERS DETAILS: There are two Mandeville of London listed in ''G.H. Ballie Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Volume 1'' : ''Mandeville. London. cc1685. Lantern clock'' and ''Mandeville. London (Wood St.). a1726, cc1735-56''.
 
It measures approximately: 22 inches / 56 cm high (handle up) x 10 1/4 inches / 31 cm wide x 7 1/4 inches / 18.5 cm deep
 
CONDITION: The clock is in lovely condition especially considering it is over 270 years old as can be seen from the photographs just knocks and marks commensurate with age and use. The clock is in full working order having been professionally cleaned and serviced. It is also complete with its pendulum and winding key. Please study photographs care...
