Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Protect antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can cause timber to warp and veneers to crack. Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying high-quality beeswax, avoiding modern silicone-based polishes.

A traditional cabinet can add warmth and historical contrast to a contemporary space. It works well positioned in an empty room angle to display ceramics, glassware, or curated collections, balancing minimalist surroundings with texture and heritage craftsmanship.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting the secondary woods used in the interior, the type of joinery, hand-cut dovetail joints, and the natural ageing of the timber and polish. Look for period-appropriate brass hardware, hand-blown or early drawn glass in glazed doors, and subtle inconsistencies indicative of handcraftsmanship.

Edwardian cabinets were typically constructed using fine hardwoods like mahogany, satinwood, or walnut as a base, often enhanced by intricate veneer work and delicate marquetry or stringing. Traditional joinery techniques, such as dovetailing and mortise-and-tenon joints, ensured structural integrity.

The Edwardian period spans the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910. Furniture from this era often looked back to earlier historical periods such as the Georgian and Sheraton revivals, characterised by lighter proportions, refined marquetry, and elegant neoclassical motifs.
