Clockwise is delighted to present another fine eight day moonphase longcase clock having just enjoyed full and sympathetic restorations performed to the case, dial and movement. Dating from circa 1850, in excellent condition and standing an imposing 2.26m (7 feet 5 inches) tall, the flame mahogany case is strung with boxwood and has an arched hood above a fretwork mask to the glazed door, flanked by ebonised barleytwist columns with brass decorative capitals . There are three brass finials. Conforming barleytwist columns flank the trunk door and the trunk, door and base have boxwood stringing, the whole case standing on matching bracket feet.
The arched dial is signed ''Thomas Trall, Briftol'' and is in gorgeous condition being a fine example of a painted dial with seconds sub-dial and working date window. The moonphase element depicts a British sailing warship and also a country building. The dial corners are painted fruit and cornucopia and the dial fronts a four pillar, rack-striking, eight day anchor escapement movement which has been fully refurbished with new lines provided and the clock strikes the full hours on a beautifully mellow bell. Brass hands complete the overall appearance and the clock benefits from my three year guarantee.
This clock really is a beautiful piece of furniture and delivery and set-up is available.
