Painted Oak Longcase Clock by Benjamin Rogers C1725-40

18th century
Description

Benjamin Rogers (1686-c.1745), Chesterfield, an oak longcase clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell with the twelve-inch square brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and flame half-hour markings, the matted centre having engraved decoration, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and silvered plaque engraved Benja. Rogers, Chesterfield, with blued-steel hands, with cast-brass four-seasons spandrels to the four corners and engraved border decoration, the flat-top oak case with blind-fret hood with and turned pillars.

This clock is missing it's pendulum and needs some general TLC. The door to the hood needs a new pin and the case could do with either a good coat of wax or stripping back and repolishing. That said, It could be move into a house straight away with the pin replaced. The movement is a of great quality and dating to around from around 1720

It is priced accordingly.
