Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A porcelain clock garniture is a matched three-piece decorative set comprising a central mantelpiece clock flanked by a pair of coordinating side pieces, typically candelabra, vases, or urns. The concept originated in Western Europe during the 17th century and reached peak popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries as a luxury focal point for fireplace mantels.

19th-century Meissen garnitures were crafted from hard-paste porcelain, characterised by hand-moulded figures, applied three-dimensional floral encrustations (schneeballen details), hand-painted polychrome enamels, and gilt accents. The clock movements housed inside were typically brass mechanical movements sourced from skilled clockmakers.

Authentic Meissen pieces feature the factory mark of crossed swords hand-painted underglaze in cobalt blue on the underside. Additionally, genuine 19th-century examples display crisp figure moulding, hand-applied floral elements, precise enamel detailing, and impressed pressnummer model numbers.

A Rococo porcelain garniture serves as a dramatic centerpiece on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or marble console table. Balancing the intricate ornament with minimalist surroundings, polished plaster walls, or neutral backdrop colours allows the sculpted details to stand out.

Antique porcelain garnitures with raised flowers and figures should be dusted regularly using a soft brush or compressed air rather than a cloth, which can snag delicate petals. Avoid immersing the clock case in water or using harsh chemical cleaners, and ensure the mechanical clock movement is serviced by a professional horologist.
